DSCN2652The Indian Muslim Welfare Society has been presented an award in recognition of its humanitarian work with one of the world’s leading Charities. South African nasheed artist Zain Bhikah on behalf of Islamic Relief (IR), a charity with which the IMWS has a long history of partnership work, presented the award to IMWS representatives for ‘Services to Humanity’.

The internationally renowned Islamic singer was in Dewsbury performing in a fundraiser concert for IR last month, held at Orchid Banqueting, Dewsbury. The concert organised by IR was in partnership with IMWS to raise funds for Myanmar and saw an attendance of around 800 people. It was also broadcast live via Islam Channel.

Zain Bhikah is one of the most recognisable nasheed artists in the world. His albums, collaborations as well as performances stretch across three decades and is one of the earliest breakthrough English nasheed artists. Many see him as key to opening the door to English nasheeds.

Zain sang his nasheeds to a packed audience on the night and also launched his new album, Cotton Candy Sky.

On the night of the concert, IMWS were invited on stage to receive an award from IR for their Services to Humanity. IMWS has been working in partnership with IR since the charities early days under Dr Hanie.

Munir Daji, Charity Project Coordinator, told Paigaam, “This award is not just for IMWS but to everyone who has helped with all their generous donations in the past.

“In December IMWS presented a cheque for £46,600 to Islamic Relief for the people of Myanmar. Please keep your generous donations coming in so we can make a difference to people’s lives throughout the world and most importantly remember them in your duas.”
