unity funday 1   The Unity Men and Kids Eid fun day came back bigger and stronger in its second year with more crowd-pleasing attractions to continue offering a fun day with a twist.

This years fun day, attended by over 1500 visitors, saw all the popular activities from 2013 lined up again including the laser Quest, Rodeo Bull, Giant Slide and of course the bouncy castle, but the new inclusions took the event much further than before.

Fair ground rides, including a pony carousel and swings, became a focal point in the main car park at the Al-Hikmah Centre. Whilst the Laser Quest was joined behind Bayt Al Hikmah by the even more popular Zorb Ball ramp.

The Zorb ball had been a talking point prior to the day and seeing it in action, as it rolled down the inflated ramp for the first time, it was clear to be a favourite.

As well as outdoor activities the day also had plenty of indoor games ranging from the traditional carrom board to fully interactive racing car simulators.

Stalls selling pizzas, ice cones and clothing gave the fun loving crowd more of a variety than the previous year.

unity 4Along with the activities IMWS ran their own barbeque with food, drinks and other materials kindly supplied Northern Catering Supplies Limited. In the spirit of the community fun day, the catering suppliers made their contribution a donation. IMWS would like to thank Northern Caterers for their generosity.

The Unity fun day was organised by the IMWS Youth sub-committee and chair Moosa Rawat thanked all who attended and helped and told Paigaam it was “a warm fun filled day which is always pleasing especially for the children and also gives mums a day off.

“A lasting memory of the day will remain of the beautiful nasheed recitation by little children from the Kholwadia family who spiritually enlightened the atmosphere.

“A big thank you to all who attended, please continue to support us as ultimately we do it for pleasing our creator and for you the whole community.”

The fun day was launched in 2013 as an Eid celebration following Ramadhaan and aimed at men and children as a variation to the traditional women and children fun days. This years event offered a host of activities with a something for everyone of all ages plan, and the youth committee hope to build on its continued success.
