IMWS

Al-HikmahIt was promoted as an evening of inspiration and by the grace of the Almighty delivered performances that made hearts shake with admiration and souls fill with enlightenment. The annual IMWS Qiraat and Naat Jalsa brought together national and local performers, with audience members travelling from as far a field as Keighley.

Master of ceremonies for the evening, Moulana Yusuf Sufi, began the programme with a brief outline of the events beginnings dating back to 1998, before the jalsa opened with a Quranic recitation from young hafiz Mehfooz Kola, a student at Madressa Talimuddin.

The jalsa, which could be heard by sisters at home via the IMWS receiver system, included performances from Leicester’s Moulana Imtiyaz Seedat and Preston’s Qari Zakir Dola, as well as local performers including: Daanyaal Momaniat, Mohammad Davi, Abdullah Momaniat, Hamza Dhorat and Qari Yusuf Nadat – who stepped in to fill the place of his ustaad Qari Saeed Makda as a last minute replacement.

Food was sold at the event with all the proceeds going to the IMWS Charity Fund. Monies raised will be distributed to needy causes both internationally and locally. An audio mp3 CD of the programme is also being sold with the proceeds going to the Charity Fund. Cost of the CD is £3 and can be purchased from the Al-Hikmah Centre.
