The historic launch of a matchmaking service by the IMWS was greeted with excitement as around 100 people arrived to find out more about the Al-Hikmah Nikah Service.
Keynote speaker Mufti Saiful Islam, who runs the Al-Mumin Nikah Service in Bradford, attended the official launch and spoke about some of the situations and circumstances he had faced and how the problems had been over come. He praised the IMWS initiative and wished it success. Mufti Saiful Islam has been working with an IMWS group to structure AHNS.
Saied Laher, one of the volunteers on the AHNS board and vice chair of IMWS, said:
“We were extremely pleased with the number of people who attended the Launch, we were grateful to Mufti Saful Islam and Mufti Abdul Waheed from Bradford for their support for which we are eternally grateful.
“Our prayer is that the service will be used and that by the grace of the Almighty we will be able to help people find suitable marriage partners.”
The IMWS vice chair, reiterated the importance of confidentiality. He wanted to re-assure the community that individual information will only be shared with the co-ordinator of AHNS.
Attendees heard how the service will operate and whom it is open to.
Registration forms as well as pamphlets were available on the day and the website portal was simultaneously launched at the event. Within hours over 270 hits had already been recorded on the website, keeping in step with the communities anticipation which was noticeable on the run up.
Confidentiality is a key point of the service and to ensure every step is taken to deliver public confidence, the application forms are to be returned to a PO Box manned by the co-ordinator. Even processing payments has been carefully looked at to maintain the utmost confidentiality.
